Case Study: Custom Tank Battery Installation for Select Energy Services Download PDF

Titan Tanks & Vessels completed a custom tank battery installation for Select Energy Services. The site location, in Bethany, Texas, consisted of an old brine water battery containing rusted tanks and pipes which needed to be replaced. Although the timeframe for this job was very short – 10 days total – Titan was able to handle the turnkey installation on time and on budget.

The job scope included replacement of all rusty tanks, pipes, stairways and catwalks. The rusty tanks would be replaced with brand new steel tanks, internally coated to resist salt water corrosion and some fiberglass tanks would be added as well. A total of 16 brand new tanks were brought in and installed by Titan’s Roustabout Division. The new tanks were piped together with 6 older ones, with a network of stairways and catwalks in between. The first project challenge faced by Titan was the removal of salt and sand deposits, measuring 10 to 12 ft. tall housed inside the 20 ft. tall old tanks. The tanks could not be removed until all deposits were removed. Due to time constraints, Titan cut open the tanks and dug out the tons of salt and sand with backhoes. (images 3, 4, 5)

After the old tanks were removed, Titan delivered and installed 16 steel and fiberglass tanks. Titan scheduled all of the deliveries and setup in only two days, thanks to their in-house fleet of delivery trucks and equipment. (images 6, 7)

First, Titan installed 6 steel tanks, then 8 fiberglass tanks. (images 8, 9) Titan welders worked day and night to plumb the tanks together, all the time ensuring the highest quality welds. (images 10, 11 and 12) Two smaller tanks were added as a last minute customer request, completing the installation in 10 days with a total of 22 linked tanks.
